On January 8, 2017, reporter Feng Lei from Shandong Environment, Guangming Daily (January 8, 2017, page 02) reported that the State Council recently issued the "13th Five-Year Plan for Comprehensive Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"). The Plan breaks down the dual control targets of total energy consumption and intensity for the 13th Five-Year Plan period to each province (autonomous region, municipality), clearly holding provincial governments accountable if they fail to meet the intensity reduction targets, and implementing restrictions and delays on high energy-consuming projects. Regarding the key points involved in the Plan, the reporter interviewed relevant officials from the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Key cities will implement total coal consumption control.

In the forging workshop, industrial furnaces used for melting metals include blast furnaces, induction furnaces, resistance furnaces, electric arc furnaces, vacuum furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, and crucible furnaces; there are also sand drying furnaces for baking sand molds, ferroalloy roasting furnaces, and casting annealing furnaces; in the forging and pressing workshop, there are various heating furnaces for preheating steel ingots or billets before forging, and heat treatment furnaces for stress relief after forging; in the metal heat treatment workshop, there are various heat treatment furnaces for annealing, normalizing, quenching, and tempering to improve the mechanical properties of workpieces; in the welding workshop, there are preheating furnaces for welds and post-weld tempering furnaces; in the powder metallurgy workshop, there are heating furnaces for sintering metals, etc. Other industries using industrial furnaces include the metallurgical industry.
