In the forging workshop, industrial furnaces for melting metals include blast furnaces, induction furnaces, resistance furnaces, electric arc furnaces, vacuum furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, crucible furnaces, etc.; there are also sand mold drying furnaces for baking sand molds, ferroalloy baking furnaces, and casting annealing furnaces; in the forging and pressing workshop, there are various heating furnaces for preheating steel ingots or billets before forging, and heat treatment furnaces for stress relief after forging; in the metal heat treatment workshop, there are various heat treatment furnaces for annealing, normalizing, quenching, and tempering to improve the mechanical properties of workpieces; in the welding workshop, there are preheating furnaces before welding and post-weld tempering furnaces; in the powder metallurgy workshop, there are heating furnaces for sintering metals, etc.

Other industries using industrial furnaces include metallurgical industries with metal melting furnaces, ore sintering furnaces, and coking furnaces; petroleum industry with distillation furnaces and cracking furnaces; gas industry with gas generators; silicate industry with cement kilns and glass melting and annealing furnaces; and the food industry with baking ovens, etc.

Adjusting the fuel structure of industrial furnaces

Although coal remains the main energy source in the current stage in China, it causes severe pollution and is not conducive to implementing high-temperature air combustion technology. Therefore, replacing coal and other solid fuels with oil and gas is a strategic direction for energy-saving development in China's industrial furnaces.

Further development and improvement of oxygen-enriched combustion technology in industrial furnaces

Vigorously improving and promoting high-temperature air combustion technology remains the future direction for energy-saving development in industrial furnaces. Technologies that ensure high-temperature, high-efficiency flames, improve furnace temperature, achieve uniform temperature distribution in the furnace, and control NOx emissions are core technologies driving oxygen-enriched combustion and represent future development directions. Meanwhile, CO2 emission reduction and sequestration will become important research hotspots. Waste heat recovery and full utilization of low-calorific-value fuels are key focuses for energy-saving development in industrial furnaces.

Industrial furnace construction will develop towards integration and lightweight design. With the development of unshaped refractory materials, integral casting and lightweight structures will see broader application. Using new refractory materials, replacing refractory bricks with high-temperature ceramics and ceramic fibers, allows furnaces to heat up quickly and reduces heat loss.

Energy saving and environmental protection of industrial furnaces

Pollution management should be implemented to strive to reduce or eliminate the emission of harmful gases and dust. For China, energy saving is one of the most important environmental protection measures.

Improving the "greenness" of industrial furnaces

Improving the "greenness" of industrial furnaces can be achieved by adjusting industrial structure and improving energy structure; adopting the world's most advanced scientific pollution control methods to fundamentally eliminate pollution at the source; continuously developing new technologies and equipment suitable for China's industrial furnaces; strengthening waste heat recovery and resource recycling; enhancing legislation and law enforcement; improving environmental protection organizations and raising public environmental awareness.
