The conference on suspension, rectification, transformation, and upgrading of the casting industry in Botou City and the decisive action against pollution was held today.
On the morning of December 18, Botou City held a conference on the rectification, transformation, and upgrading of the casting industry and decisive action against pollution. Wang Binglin, member of the Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, and Wang Shaofang, Director of the Public Security Bureau, attended the meeting. Main responsible comrades from township governments, street offices, development zone management committees, directors of the Environmental Protection Bureau and the Industry and Information Technology Bureau, leaders in charge from member units of the environmental protection working group, and heads of more than 500 casting enterprises in the city participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, Geng Yunlei, Director of the Environmental Protection Bureau, read the "Botou City Casting Industry Suspension, Rectification, Transformation, and Upgrading Plan." Qi Shancun, Director of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau, read the "Proposal on Suspension, Rectification, Transformation, and Upgrading of the Casting Industry." Representatives from two enterprises made statements, and representatives from ten enterprises read the "Casting Enterprises' Commitment to Air Pollution Prevention and Control." Wang Binglin, member of the Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, analyzed the severe situation faced in air pollution prevention and control and the problems existing in the city's casting industry, and arranged and deployed the rectification, transformation, and upgrading of the city's casting industry. Wang Shaofang, Director of the Public Security Bureau, gave specific opinions on severely cracking down on illegal emissions and improving the city's air quality.
The meeting required that all casting enterprises in the city suspend production for rectification. On one hand, based on standardizing the storage of raw and auxiliary materials and improving the factory appearance, pollution control facilities must be installed in all pollution-generating processes such as melting, inoculation and slag removal, pouring, sand dropping, cleaning, grinding, and surface treatment to achieve stable and compliant emissions. On the other hand, enterprises are encouraged to replace cupola furnaces with electric furnaces to reduce pollutant emissions and improve casting quality, and to adopt automatic or semi-automatic production facilities in molding, sand treatment, inspection, and testing equipment to enhance equipment levels and environmental management.
